Time

Do you know anyone who has too much time?

Most of us, when asked, will say, "Man, there is just not enough time in the day to do what I need to do!" We've got jobs that seem to suck up time, not only in the scheduled 8 to 5 but in the unscheduled nights and weekends. We've got kids' activities that certainly are taking up more and more time (BTW, for those of you in your 40's and up, how many of your things did your parents drive you to regularly when you were a kid? For me, it was almost zero - unless you count optometrist and doctor's appointments as "my things." Not a knock on my parents - they're great, and a big hello to my mother and father from blogland. But modern day parents, me included, ship our kids around way more than in the good old days).

Back to my thoughts. We're busy. So how do we add time? The answer, of course, is we don't. We simply need to prioritize better. It helps me to think of the big parts of my life - my kids, my wife, my job, my business - and think of what I've done for each of them in a day. The answer, too often, is not enough. What if I started thinking in advance of what I wanted to do for them that day? Wake up with a plan for the day and maybe the time I use will be better applied.
